Our Review:

In the UK and across Europe, carrying a variety of tent pegs can make a real difference.

Titanium is significantly stronger and tougher than aluminium for the same weight, allowing pegs to be made smaller without sacrificing durability. However, there is a trade-off. A smaller diameter and shorter peg will naturally provide less holding power than a longer, wider peg due to its reduced surface area. That's simply physics.

This is exactly where these pegs excel. Some ground conditions simply won't accept a wider or longer peg. Examples include the rocky trails of the Tour du Mont Blanc, the GR20 in Corsica, or hard-baked summer ground with only shallow grass cover in parts of the UK. In these conditions, a slim titanium peg can often be driven into the ground where larger pegs simply cannot.

Another situation where these pegs really shine is on tie-out points that experience a near-vertical pull, such as tent doors and awnings. Traditional nail-style pegs can allow the guyline to slip off under these angles, whereas the shepherd's hook design helps keep the line securely in place.

At 165mm long and manufactured from premium-grade titanium, these pegs offer better holding power than many of the lighter 150mm length alternatives. Their thicker 3.5mm diameter also makes them more resistant to bending than ultralight shepherd's hook pegs weighing around 5.5–6g.

We carry these on our own trips for non-critical guy-out points, tent doors and awnings, as well as for clotheslines during multi-day hikes.

They're not the right peg for every situation—and that's exactly the point. Used where they're strongest, they're an excellent addition to any lightweight peg collection.

We rate them highly because we use them ourselves, trust them in the field, and are confident enough in their performance to offer them to our customers.
